This past weekend I brought my trusty 3 year old Golden Retriever Escrow with me while previewing some properties in the Niles district of Fremont. I promised my trusty sidekick that as a reward for waiting so patiently outside while I was previewing homes we would take a little trip over to the Niles Community Park.
Escrow loves this park because of the dog swimming area so we headed down the trail so he could take a dip. After taking a dip Escrow met up with some other furry friends and their owners and we all talked for a bit while our dogs chased each other around the park expending all of that puppy energy. After a while, my wife Deanna showed up and we all had a wonderful picnic.
This park is a great place to bring dogs or to just come and relax and enjoy the weather. Although it does have an off leash area for dogs it also has plenty of other areas where dogs are required to be on a leash- for those that prefer not to have wet, slobbery dogs running at them.
To get to the park I always come in from downtown Niles via Niles Blvd. and H St. When you arrive you will see there are tennis courts to the right of the parking lot and a large grass area to the left. If you walk across the grass and along the quarry trail you will hit a gravel path which is the off leash area for dogs. If you continue down this trail you will actually meet up with the Alameda Creek Regional Trail. If you prefer not to visit the dog area you can take any of the other trails around the water along gorgeous paths.
You can also play tennis, enjoy a picnic or just wander around this great park. When you are done take a stroll in downtown Niles and learn all about Niles movie making and railroad past. Did you know Charlie Chaplin was a past famous Niles resident? Well you will have to wait on another post for more information on that, but I hope you enjoy the park!
